if it was a different decade, I'd be a journalist
Or If had parents who wanted to bank roll my lavish lifestyle in San Francisco. Alas, they raised me to follow practical, money-making dreams.
coming of age during the digital revolution meant watching editors of newspapers frantically try to recalibrate to stay alive. At the time, i wrote for a variety of digital news publications: refinery 29, SOMA Magazine, Racked SF, SF Indie Fashion, and SF Station. One day, my wit and writing was noticed by a SF Chronicle newspaper style editor. You know — the most circulated newspaper west of the mississippi for a time? The same one where literary heroes, Mark twain and herb caen, rose to prominence (or at least paid some bills). I'm no caen (working on it!), but if you've ever hated on one of my stories on Twitter, I thank you for being moved enough to Tweet about it! #hatersmakeyoufamous
