I am a punk-rock, psych band, jam-freak when it comes to music. I love all kinds. I even married a musician. ask me about lost persian 70s rock music and how nas owns his return to culture to it. We'll get super deep.
when Twitter's owned and operated channel, @twittermusic, needed a new strategy along with fresh content, i was like @#$&&&1111!!!! hell yea. you about to get the hottest licks.
my thinking: @twittermusic isn't a place to advertise. so don't treat it like that kind of channel. This is a place to tell stories. have a voice. and let the artists and their story shine. So rather than treat the o&o channel like a reposting dumpster, my partner and i suggested we relaunch it as a music destination. A place where STANS, wanderers, and curious tweeters could come and glean something new about the world of music.
#artisttofollow was born. A monthly content vertical that features a new artist each month on @twittermusic. My partner and I created an easy story template along with a visual look and feel so we could easily direct artists during quick shoots, and produce three finished videos every quarter.
#artisttofollow later become a partnership opportunity for the Twitter sales team to take to artists, labels, and media partners. and that my friends rocks.
p.s. our creative presentation of our initial concepts was "one of the best creative meetings" our head of social had ever seen. direct quote. I might have played air guitar.
